A bit about myself…
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Architecture at the University of Colorado in 1996. While pursing my degree I studied film and theater and worked as a Set Designer and Teachers Assistant. Whether I was drawing architecture and engineering plans, building miniatures, or set designing plays and student films, I loved the marriage of design and story.
After graduating I moved to Los Angeles and began my career in the art department as a Set Dresser, Art Director, and Production Designer during the heyday of music videos and commercials. Working with companies A Band Apart, Anonymous, Hungry Man, Partizan, Propaganda, Radical Media, RSA, Smuggler and others, I was fortunate to learn from some of the best music video directors including David Fincher, Dave Meyers, Dean Karr, Nigel Dick, Hype Williams, Kevin Kerslake, Michel Gondry, and Spike Jonze, as well as commercial directors Bryan Buckley, Jordan Brady, Mathew Rolston, and Zach Merck.
As a skilled model maker, my introduction to animation began as Production Designer for EMMY Award winning Robot Chicken (Seasons 1-4), Moral Orel (Seasons 1-2), and the Robot Chicken Star Wars specials for Adult Swim in collaboration with Lucasfilm. This is where I learned the craft of stop-motion animation and found a new medium to tell stories in an other-worldly way.
My directorial debut was the ADDY Award winning University of Farmers campaign for Farmers Insurance via ad agency RPA. Directing work includes campaigns for OREO (Red Velvet, S’Mores), JACK in the BOX, Samsung, Under Armour, SUBWAY, and NBC Sports, as well as various skits for Comedy Central’s TRIPTANK (Gusto Rules, DYTHCF, Gnomes, PIGS) and other short form content including the opening film “Go Deeper” for the Newport Beach Film Festival in 2017..
Serving as Executive Producer of commercials at ShadowMachine, worked with clients Nickelodeon, OREO, Nissan, MAC Cosmetics, LittleBits, Sesame Street, Verrado, BOOST Mobile and others .
Recent work includes directing the animation scene in Olivia Wilde’s feature fim Booksmart via Annapurna Pictures, Ted Lasso’s Christmas Special “The Missing Christmas Mustache” on Apple TV+, and the animation sequence for The Binge 2 “It’s a Wonderful Binge” on HULU, and work for artist Juli Adams “Plague Poppets”.
